The Department of Electronics and Communication was established in 1997 and has 180 sanctioned seats for B. Tech (Electronics and Communication). The department was granted approval by AICTE in August 1997. This department aims to provide wholesome education and research scope to the students and the faculty members as well to meet the institutional goals. B. Tech (Electronics and Communication) is the most sought after course in SMU. The department has well qualified, trained and experienced faculty members, well-maintained and fully equipped labs.    ECSA    Electronics & Communication Students Association is a society set up with an intention to provide a platform to the students as well as faculty members to showcase their potential in cultural, sports, academics and other extra-curricular activities. It organizes Echelon (departmental fest) annually and publishes its departmental magazine named Aurora. The activities conducted by ECSA are multifold.
